a jolly good trip
The Bears’ 24-18 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs at Wembley Stadium was a good time all around. Fans came in the jerseys of all 32 NFL teams, and mostly seemed to sit in silence trying to figure out what it was about this game that was so interesting to Americans.
Among my favorite observations of the British photographers, who were greatly confused by the kicking, the penalties, and the constant changing of personnel on the field:
“Are the reds still coming toward us with possession?”
“What has happened? Did the man not score a touchdown?”
“This is quite a boring sport, isn’t it?”
And as overheard by Scott Strazzante at the end of the first quarter: “Are they going the other way now? Well, time for a sandwich.” And he left.
